Only a Conservative Government will support local businesses and get our High Street moving again

Last weeks announcement by Boris Johnson that a Conservative Government, if elected, will cut business rates for small businesses is welcome news for Slough – this means that over 1000 small businesses across Slough will save around £2000 each from next year – a total saving in the town of over £2m a year.

Also announced were cuts to employer National Insurance contributions, saving around another £1000 a year – and increasing allowances for buildings improvements and research and development. I will be working with local businesses to ensure they are able to tap into all the additional resources a Conservative government to allow them to invest.

And this week our Conservative Group of Councillors announced they will present plans to the council next week to introduce free parking in our town centre – to help improve accessibility for residents and boost footfall for local shops. I will continue working closely with them and local businesses to do more to bring more people into the town centre.

Supporting our High Streets is a key priority for our party – and Sajid Javid announced only last week that we will introduce further measures if re-elected to build on the £1bn fund announced this Summer. I will be working hard with a Conservative government to get additional funds to get regeneration in our High Street moving.

Slough is a town built on strong commerce – with one of the largest trading estates in Europe. It is vital that we support businesses here in Slough – to help them grow, and to continue to create better, more skilled jobs for residents.

For local businesses and residents, the choice is clear – positive action from myself and a Conservative government to bring tax cuts to allow investment and better jobs, and to get our High Street moving – or more inaction and failure from Tan Dhesi and Corbyn’s Labour?
