Our town will get the investment in bus services and roads we need to help all of us

#Kanwal4Slough

In a town like ours– surrounded by a network of well-established motorways, and just 20 mins by train to London – we are well strategically placed to take advantage of all that has to offer.

However, our town is under pressure. Many of our key trunk roads and local streets suffer from traffic congestion that not only means we have some of the worst journey times in the country, but also makes our air quality worse and our roads less safe.

Our local Labour council have wasted millions in funds on failed road schemes in the town, such as that at the Three Tuns, and have taken decisions which have worsened the congestion, such as in Langley.

As the town’s new MP I am committed to ensuring we get our fair share of the £28.8bn investment in new road schemes and of the £2bn pothole fund being committed by the Conservatives – and to working with local people to bring forward new road safety initiatives to make our roads safer.

Buses are vital to many residents – and the Labour council have failed to ensure that we deliver quality frequent bus services to help people get around town for work. We will protect the Older Person’s Bus Pass for the next five years and are committed to investing an additional £200m in local bus services, and I am determined that we will secure what we need for Slough.

I will also work to bring forward proposals to extend TFL services here, and get Slough included in the government’s new ‘superbus’ network initiative, to better connect us to the wider London network, and bring the cheaper and more frequent services we need.

Without a strong economy investment wouldn’t be possible – and the choice is clear at this election – we can now invest more in buses and roads in Slough, to help our residents and support local businesses grow.
