Castleview development

Bellway Homes has paid the council £5.1m for a 999-year lease on the access land to their new development on the Castleview site. Cabinet gave approval for some of this money to be used to improve the junction of Upton Court Road and the A4 London Road and to investigate improvements at other junctions along that section of the A4.

Older People’s Commissioning Strategy 2013-18

Cabinet, on 18th November, signed off the new Older People’s Commissioning Strategy 2013-18, which takes into account a number of significant changes in health and social care (e.g. the move of Public Health to the council). It also reflects Slough’s changing demographics and health needs, and the latest census data which outlines the projected needs of older people in the borough.

Use of land in Slough

A report went to cabinet which gave an overview of the competing demands for land in Slough. Councillors agreed that priority for land should be given to:

·         Within the town centre – projects which reflect the Heart of Slough masterplan and have the potential to re-invigorate the town centre as a place to do business, to shop and to live.

·         Outside the town centre – projects which support housing, health and the local economy.

Flood management update

Following a number of serious flooding incidents in the UK in recent years, the government gave councils responsibility for local flood management. A report went to cabinet providing an overview of the various strategies and plans relating to flood management in Slough, which were approved by councillors.
