A motion moved by Cllr Anna Wright (Con, Haymill) will be considered at a Slough Borough Council meeting at The Centre in Farnham Road tomorrow.

The Conservative group leader wants the council to consider ways to prevent any new hot food takeaway premises from 'opening within 300-500 metres of any school within the Slough borough borders'.

The town has one of the lowest levels of participation in physical activity for adults in the country and high levels of diabetes and obesity.

Cllr Wright said: "It is a huge problem in Slough and it is growing.

"We can't force people to not eat fast food, but regarding children, we can actually stop the temptation in some way.

"That's one of the ways in which we can help."
